Workshop – Stage Sound – 29th October 2023

The first Stagecraft Workshop for members will cover what you need, and how to set up your own band for a live gig, or even a Club Gig. It is being held at The Gov, in the Gallery Room, at The Gov from 3-6pm.

Bump/Set up from 2:00 pm Workshop 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Cost: $5 for paid-up/life members You must be logged in to register and pay.

Topics covered include: Setup – mechanical issues, Safety

• Room sound, EQ, FOH volumes,
• Technical:
• Balance leads,  Xlr v Jack , DIs, Input impedance
• Microphones: types for applications
• Audio setup:
  • Desk Input gain
  • Monitors ( fold backs)
  • Foldback mix,
  • Avoiding / fixing Feedback
• Effects, including: 
  • Equalization
  • Compression
• Troubleshooting:
  • Hums and buzzes
  • Cable testing
• Communication with tech people.

These are the high level topics, the objective will be for everything to be a practical approach. We’ll focus 90% on the rig that we have, but we may talk about some extended topics.
